The excellent speedway racing action continues in week seven at the Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn Ca. in the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Excellent weather greeted fans on this perfect night for watching speedway racing at one of the best racing venues in America.
Broc Nicol was the fastest man of the night and won the scratch main event again, his fourth scratch main event win of the season. Only Billy Janniro and Nicol have won scratch main events so far this season. Janniro has tallied three scratch main event wins this season so far. Nicol was perfect in the scratch program winning his heat race, semi-final and then the main event.
Lining for the night's finale, Nicol drew lane three sitting next to Janniro in lane four, Russell Green in lane two and Charlie Trana in lane one. Nicol got the hole shot and looked back just to check on the competition. Nicol increased his lead over the rest of the pack gaining yardage as each lap passed until he crossed the finish line with close to 20 yards of comfort. Trana was second, Green was third and Janniro was fourth.
Russell Green repeated his handicap main event win in week one picking up the win in the handicap main event again this week in week seven, his second handicap main event win of the season. Green, riding off the 20-yard-line was fourth in his heat race, first in his semi-final and then went on to win the handicap main event. Green has been riding fast and steady all season and is making appearances in the handicap and scratch main events or both weekly. Green got out ahead early in the six-lap race but was followed closely by Charlie Trana who starts on the 30-yard line. Close behind him was current AMA National Speedway champ Broc Nicol who was waiting for a mistake that never came to take the lead. Green held his own though and took the checkered flag. Trana was second and Nicol third.
Making her way to the winner's podium in the support division for the first time this season was Catherine Moore. Moore is a tough rider and has been on a speedway bike since she started riding in the junior divisions five years ago. She has worked her way up through the ranks and has greatly improved this season. She races each week at Fast Fridays along with her older brother first division rider Gregory Moore. They both followed their father Glenn Moore into the sport. Undefeated in the support class this week, Moore won her heat races and then the main event looking really strong on the track. In the support main event Moore led tape to tape for the win. Hunter Castillo was second and Cody Aker was third.
In the third round of the six round Team Challenge Series the tie was finally broken, and the Law Tigers have pulled away by two points over IFC Financial. Coming into the third round the score was tied at 9-9 in the first round and then 18-18 after two rounds. In round three The Law Tigers scored 10 points and IFC Financial scored eight points in round three leaving the score 28-26 going into round four.
For the Law Tigers Russell Green and Gregory Moore picked up wins and three points each, Billy Janniro added two points and Daniel Faria and Timmy chipped in one point each. For IFC Financial Broc Nicol picked up a win and three points Wilbur Hancock and Tisiah Prout added two each and Chase Kangas got one point. The competition has been very tight in the first three rounds, and it looks like it could be close all season for these teams as they meet three more times this season.
The 250cc Division 1 main event was won by the seemingly unbeatable Brady Landon. Always on the gas, Landon never lets up from start to finish line. The win was Landon's second in a row. Wesley Rearick was second in the main and Jameson Hutchinson was third. Landon won all his heat races and the main event.
The 250cc Division 2 main event was won again by Gracie Janniro for the second week in a row. Even handicapped on the fifty-yard line by referee Steve Lucero, the additional yardage did not slow her down, it just took a little more time to get to the lead. It was her second main event win in a row. In the main event Janniro was followed by Baylee Evans-Seeley who finished second.
Logan Kerr took the 150cc Division 1 main event, it was his first time winning the main event in division one. The win was Kerr's first main event win since being bumped up a division. Kerr won the 150cc Division 2 main event in week four. Gavin Evans-Seeley was second in the main, Zander Schroeder was third.
Mason Howell won the 150cc Division 2 main event, Leeann Emerson was second and Hank Hanaway was third. Zeva Schroeder won the 150cc Division 3 main event, followed by Ryder Faria in second and William Bruce was third.
Next week Fast Friday's version of endurance racing come to the track in the form of a grueling 25 lap main event. On bikes only meant to go six laps at most this is quite a feat for rider and motorcycle. See who will be this year's Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway, “Iron Man.”
